Thrively Media Pty Ltd trading as Ekko · ekko.life
At a glance
You can delete your Ekko account and the personal information associated with it at any time, from inside the app or by emailing us. Deletion is permanent. Some anonymised data is retained so messages you sent to others still appear from a recognised (but nameless) source.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app
- Open Ekko on your phone.
- Go to Settings → Profile.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Your account is removed immediately. You will be signed out and your login credentials will no longer work.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you no longer have access to the app, email support@ekko.life from the email address associated with your Ekko account. Use the subject line Delete my Ekko account. We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your profile (name, email, photo, bio, ministry role, country, age range, occupation, interests).
- Your course progress, completed lessons, and study-guide responses.
- Your personal notes.
- Your survey and spiritual health check-in responses.
- Your memberships in communities and home groups.
- Your push notification tokens (you will stop receiving notifications).
- Your authentication credentials with Clerk (our identity provider).
What is retained
We retain a small set of data after deletion to preserve the integrity of conversations you participated in:
- Messages you sent remain visible to the people you sent them to, but they are attributed to “[deleted user]” rather than your name.
- A minimal tombstone record (an internal user identifier and a cancelled-account status flag) is kept so that the attribution above continues to work. This record contains no personally identifying information.
- Aggregated, anonymous analytics (e.g. number of users who completed a course in a given week) are retained without any link back to you.
Retention period
Personal information is removed immediately upon deletion. The anonymous tombstone record is retained indefinitely so that messages you previously sent stay attributed to a recognised source in other users' conversations. We will delete the tombstone on explicit request if there is a legal or regulatory reason to do so. Contact us at support@ekko.life.
Backups
Some data may persist for a short period in encrypted backups maintained by our infrastructure providers. Backup copies are overwritten on a rolling basis and are not used to restore deleted accounts.
Sub-processors
When you delete your account, we instruct our sub-processors to delete the data they hold on our behalf. The relevant providers are:
- Clerk — authentication and identity management.
- Convex — application database and real-time backend.
- Mux — video playback (no personal data stored).
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Expo / EAS — push notification infrastructure.
